we will discuss the basics on how to set up a Facebook Fan Page. Here are the topics in this series:
- How to Set-Up a Basic Facebook Page
- How to Create Customized Tabs for Facebook Fan Page
- HTML/FBML Code, Cheap Tricks and Short Cuts, and Other Design Ideas
- Strategies for Using Facebook Fan Page to Market and Sell Real Estate
In today's installment, we discuss some strategies on how to use your Facebook Fan Page to market and sell real estate.
Step 1 - Create a dynamic Landing Page that describes your business, business philosophy, practices areas or services, and geographic service areas.

Step 2 - Integrate your website, social networking sites and hosting sites for files, video, photos, and audio. Use buttons and links to allow your fans to interact with you via multiple mediums and allow passive viewing and downloading of documents, presentations, and videos. Incorporate SlideShare and Box.net as delivery platforms.

Step 3 - Use RSS feeds for content such as news, blog posts, and even Twitter posts. By posting your Tweets as an RSS feed, you may get someone who doesn't use Twitter to read your Tweets via an RSS feed or via e-mail.

Step 4 - Integrate multiple media platforms such as video, photographs, podcasts and streaming audio.

Step 5 -Provide some free teaser information or materials.

Step 6 - Promote localism and referrals via the use of banners and via the placement of favorite fan pages on your site. Use banners as a means of strengthening ties with your business partners.

Step 7 - Make it interactive with a community calendar, polls, etc.

Step 8 - Develop good content using posts to the Wall, start thought provoking Discussions and even usw canned content from third parties such as NAR produced content available on the new HomeLogic.com website.

Step 9 - Use lead capture forms such as those created by using JotForm.com.

Step 10 - Use applications developed by third parties to display your listings. Facebook Fan Pages are static and don't support dynamic content. However, RealBird has a widget that allows you to display listings prominently on your Facebook Fan Page.

Step 11 - Use a gimmick to draw interest and keep people coming back - tech tip of the day, worst MLS photo of the week, etc.

Yes! I just did a workshop for other business with just basics on Fan Pages. Your post just blew my mind! If it wasn't so late I would get to work on this right now! Great job!
Ryan, thanks again for your series. I am saving them all for the holiday break.

This information is so valuable! Great idea to post it in Active Rain. We've been hosting a series of "Social Media" classes to agents throughtout the East Valley for a while. It has been very successful! Good luck to you!
Anna - It is a great marketing tool to provide social media training to your real estate agent/customers.
Ryan - Lots of great information here. Will have to bookmark it for now and find a time to really dig into it. Can't wait!
Great details on how to leverage Facebook fan pages, Ryan. "Making it interactive" is something I need to do a lot more of in 2010. JotForm looks like it may be a useful utility. Thanks for your insights!
Troy - Glad it helps.
John - You want them to keep coming back for more. I like box.net, slideshare and jot form - great free products that you can use to get the information out to your Fans.

Ryan,
How do you get the Real Estate Today code to work on a Facebook page? I got it to work on my website but not my facebook page.
What polling app do you like. I'd like to be able to create custom polls.
Thanks,
Chris
Chris: Here is the code -

Thanks Ryan. It worked great.
I have another question. How did you put your About PREA tab together and those tabs on "Go Green" etc. Is that another application that needs to be added to the page?
Chris
i want to add my fan page to Point2. I'm missing something on my fan page to get me there.
Great post. thank you for sharing.
Chris: The other pages - go green, tax credit, etc. are from NAR's HouseLogic site.
Robert: I will do a post shortly on Point2 and Facebook Fan Page
Shannon: Glad it helps.
Everything is so interesting and valuable. Thanks for a great post.
Hi Ryan, I'm still procrastinating on doing a Facebook page because I've heard good and bad in it. I've stayed clear of it for those reasons. But, I do know that it is a means of getting your name out there more and I'm considering it. Especially since my sister Shannon who just made a comment on your site earlier has been on Facebook for some time now. The Real Estate professionals in my area have been after me to join. I would love to read all your articles about it. Thanks for listening.
